Our Values

Parrott Creek’s values are: Unconditional Positive Regard, Mindfulness, Trauma Informed, Restorative Justice and Social Justice. These values form the ethos, the foundation and the very core of how and why we do the work that we do. Our values are the basis of our treatment philosophy, the tools and techniques we use to work with those in our care, the skills we teach our youth and families, how we work together as a team and what we expect of ourselves, our partners and our communities.  While each value stands on its own, it only exists and is only possible when it is part of an interconnected ecosystem. To represent this, we worked with the illustrator Renee Garcia to bring to life the environment, specific to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, that we strive to create each and every day.

Unconditional Positive Regard

We assume positive intent and accept that people are using the skills they have to do the best they can.

Monarch Butterfly: Butterflies are symbols of transformation and messengers of joy. Monarchs are a sign of change and new direction, migrating long distances throughout the year.

Mindfulness

We strive to be fully present and engaged in every moment.

Turtles: Turtles are known to be slow-movers and often seen being still and sitting in silence. They remind us to pause and stay grounded. They are also symbols of safety, protection and healing.

Trauma Informed

We create an environment of kindness, support, healing and empowerment with a conscious regard for behaviors and thought patterns formed by trauma.

Nurse Log: Nurse logs support new life by providing nutrients, water and protection. Trees also track their age through their rings, incorporating past trauma while pursuing grounded stability.

Restorative Justice

We focus on repairing relationships and asking each other to be accountable for the harm we cause.

Camas Flower: Camas are often associated with strength and gifting them shows that you appreciate someone and their inherent gifts.

Social Justice

We work towards the equitable treatment of all people; recognizing dynamics of power, privilege and oppression.

Salmon: There are many species of salmon in the Pacific Northwest and they help us represent the diversity of our world. Salmon are symbols of regeneration and prosperity that bind and support many communities.
